About Michael Shea
Michael Shea, a Southern California native, graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1994. During his time at UCSB, he showcased his athleticism by playing Division 1 college tennis for the Gauchos, ultimately earning a degree in history and economics. After graduation, he relocated to Charlotte NC, alongside his brother and cousins to establish Shea Homes, North Carolina, where they dedicated the next three decades to building a reputable regional homebuilding company.
Michael has dedicated over three decades to the homebuilding industry, starting with five years on-site building homes before advancing to project manager. In 1999, he took charge of the Land Acquisition and Development department, leading to the successful production of over six hundred units annually from 2005 to 2008. Throughout his career, Michael has developed more than ten thousand lots within the Charlotte MSA, overseeing every aspect of Shea Homes communities, which cater to discerning homebuyers. Shea Homes has crafted upscale residential neighborhoods across Charlotte, including Union County, Concord, and South Charlotte, while also offering a customizable build-on-your-lot program.
Michael played a pivotal role in identifying niche communities for Shea Custom, contributing to an impressive revenue of $30 million in 2021. With an entrepreneurial spirit, he successfully developed commercial sites like Edison Square in Concord, NC. In the same year, Michael and his partners negotiated the sale of Shea Homes, NC to Empire Homes and Communities, based in Toronto, Canada. Following this, he spearheaded Empire's expansion into the Upstate of South Carolina, acquiring, entitling, and engineering three communities in the Greenville-Spartanburg area, totaling over six hundred lots.
Michael has been at the forefront of acquisition and development for Empire Homes and Communities through early 2025. With over 30 years of experience, he has successfully navigated numerous rezoning projects and developed communities across the Charlotte metropolitan area. Empire Homes and Communities earned recognition as the 16th largest builder in the Charlotte MSA for 2024-2025. In 2025, Michael joined the PS7 team, collaborating with seasoned industry professionals to create notable communities that address the growing housing demand in the Southeastern United States.
